The Byzantine School is the ministry for adults interested in learning more about the liturgical services of our church. It has been said that “as we pray, so we believe” and vice-versa. It is not surprising that orthodoxy means both correct doctrine and correct worship. We collectively adopt a topic for discussion, and we meet once a month for about one hour for that purpose. Most recently, we have studied the Eleven Morning Gospels (eothina), the Hymns of the Katabasiai, and Sacraments and Sacramentals. Future topics suggested include: The Hymnology of the Cross, the Service of Proskomide, and the Orthodox Lectionary. Participants need not chant or sing to benefit.
